Ok so this book has been all over #bookstagram since it’s publication in May and with an average of 4.03 from 82,224 it’s clearly a must read….. so I jumped on the band wagon and WOWZERS I’m glad I bumped this one up my TBR list, it’s fabulous! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A real domestic suspense with a bit of a twist on the usual “how far would you go to protect your spouse/child” given our heroine is the “wicked step mother” replacing Baileys birth Mum who tragically died when she was young.
When Owen disappears leaving cryptic notes for Hannah (Protect her) and Bailey (you know what matters about me) the duo reluctantly team up to dig into the past and find out why devoted Dad Owen has really vanished and if he is coming back.
Along the journey we meet a number of shady characters, FBI agents and even US Marshall’s and the author weaves a real sense of - is anyone really who they say they are!? Intrigue into the narrative.
The book is told solely from Hannah’s point of view although there are some flash backs particularly toward the end of the book which does well to fill in all the gaps, and make the ending all that more bittersweet.
As an audio book it was narrated well and the the story moved along in a Relatively fast paced fashion - it was easy to follow and pick up “just ten more minutes” which can be a bit of a novelty with audio books.
A cracking 4 stars and thanks for the recommendations fellow bloggers. As a Reese Witherspoon book club pick no doubt this one is headed to the big screen as a TV adaption in the near future 🙌
