Firstly a HUGE thank you to Charlie Donlea and the publishes for my ARC in exchange for an honest review - I was SO excited to receive this books as I am a massive Charlie Donlea fan and devoured the first 100 pages as soon as ripped the package from the delivery mans hands. This standalone thriller poignantly marks the 20 year anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks and I love the way the story balances around a crime committed just before the towers fell and the investigation of the cold case twenty years later as TV host Avery Mason sets to uncover the truth (largely to cover her own personal reasons for being in NY) In true Donlea fashion this is an absolute nail bitter and the ending is blow your mind good. My only small negative and reason for docking 1/2 a star is the repetition in the first half of the book. I feel some of the fast paced nature of the second half could have been easily incorporated from page 1 if we didn't delve so deeply into Avery's character - the exact details of her red car and why she bought it is featured a number of times for example, but that being said the excruciating build up as all the characters come together is fantastic and I really enjoyed the overall plot. Even a guest appearance from Dr Livvy Cutter who Donlea fans will remember from earlier books. A fantastic read, one I would highly recommend to all psych thriller fans out there. #twentyyearslater #charliedonlea #thrillerbooks #bookaddict #booklover #bookstagram #nyc #terrorattack #bookrecommendation #bookreview #arc #publicationday #psychologicalthriller #book #read #reading #goodreads #review #blog #booksandflowers #moonshine #american #bookbassador
